“At the same time, I was given the pleasure of clarifying (to Sultan Ibrahim) the policy of administrative matters relating to the legal framework and the federal constitution in line with the latest developments of the country,” the PH defacto leader said today.

Anwar said this in a media statement after his audience with Sultan Ibrahim and the Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim in Johor Baru late yesterday.

The 70-year-old, who is designated to be the next prime minister, said Sultan Ibrahim’s desire was to ensure that focus is given to development that benefits the people following PH’s victory in Johor on May 9 after the 14th general election (GE14).

“With that, the victory comes with hope and expectations from the people in Johor who wanted to be defended and to be free from pressure as well as the extreme economic gap,” he said, adding that he extended his gratitude to Sultan Ibrahim who was pleased to invite him and his daughter PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar for a meeting together with Tunku Ismail last night.

Anwar said prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has already started introducing policies that are in line with the mandate entrusted by the people.

“We (PH) welcome the concern by the Sultan of Johor and the Tunku Mahkota Johor in responding to the problems of the people and the country’s affairs.

“Insha Allah (God willing) with the support of the people, including His Majesty, in particular, Malaysia will be driven on the right track towards becoming a nation with dignity,” he said.

Yesterday, Anwar and Nurul Izzah, who is also the Permatang Pauh MP, had a two-hour audience with Sultan Ibrahim and Tunku Ismail at Istana Pasir Pelangi in Johor Baru.

They entered the palace grounds at 10.50pm.

Earlier, both were personally flown in the Sultan of Johor’s private jet from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang to Senai International Airport in Johor at the behest of the state ruler.

Initially, it was unclear as to the purpose of the closed-door meeting, but Anwar has stated he will be travelling for a fair bit before actively taking part in politics again.
