Malaysia won the 111th gold medal at the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games 2017 through ‘The Pocket Rocketman’ Azizulhasni Awang.
The national track cyclist and world champion in men’s keirin, Azizulhasni delivered the 111th gold for Malaysia after winning the men’s sprint title.
The 111 gold target is pegged to the number of gold medals that the country won the last time it hosted the Games in 2001.
It would be exciting to see how many more golds we will win now that the target has been achieved. Even one more gold to surpass the 2001 haul will make this the most successful SEA Games ever for our country.
Congratulating all Malaysian athletes, the prime minister said the feat confirmed Malaysia as the overall champion of the KL 2017 Games.
