Tuan Ibrahim allegedly approved a RM2 billion project after Parliament was dissolved.

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has challenged Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man to go ahead and sue him for alleging that the environment and water minister had approved a RM2 billion project after Parliament was dissolved.

In a statement, Rafizi confirmed receiving a letter of demand from the PAS deputy president and said he hoped Tuan Ibrahim would go ahead and file the suit against him.

“I don’t want his letter of demand to be used as mere campaign material for the remainder of this general election (GE15) campaign, with no suit being filed in court.

“I want to go to court because I have solid evidence about my exposé,” the former Pandan MP said.

He noted that Tuan Ibrahim had claimed he was lying and fabricated the matter to win voters in the election.

Rafizi said going to court will provide him the opportunity to get more information about other projects.

“There are many processes in courts that will enable information to be obtained officially. I am interested in projects that are directly negotiated and also the larger flood infrastructure projects that have bigger financial risks.

“Although Tuan Ibrahim has challenged me to lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), I hope he can be patient.

“An MACC report will definitely be lodged if Pakatan Harapan (PH) forms the federal government (after GE15).”

It was reported that Rafizi had also claimed that the project, which is related to a flood barrier at Sungai Langat, was the second contract awarded to the same company in the past six months.

Tuan Ibrahim had denied Rafizi’s allegation and challenged the former MP to lodge a report with the MACC. He added that the caretaker government could not approve any financial allocation as it was against a Treasury circular.

Tuan Ibrahim demanded that Rafizi, within seven days, issue a public apology in a media statement and a letter of undertaking that he would not repeat the allegation on any platform.

He also wanted the PKR deputy president to propose a reasonable amount to pay in damages over his allegation. – FMT
