The air thick with grief and heart-wrenching cries enveloped the final farewell of the four family members who perished in the Tanjung Sepat murder-arson last Wednesday.

Around 400 people turned up today for the funeral procession of Chia Tee Nang, 73, his wife Lim Mai Shak, 68, and their two grandchildren Ryan Chia Zeng Xi, 9, and Chia Yuan Bin, three.

The funeral rites which begin at 10am was held at the couple’s second home in Taman Pelangi.
Close family members, including the two sons of the deceased couple, were seen wailing uncontrollably and sobbing as the caskets of the deceased were brought out for relatives, friends, villagers and acquaintances to pay their respect.

The procession ended around 11am.
The remains will be cremated at the Fu De Funeral Park.
The 12-year-old boy who survived the gruesome ordeal and the youngest daughter, whose boyfriend was charged with murder today were not seen during the ceremony.
It is learnt that throughout the three-day wake, the couple’s daughter was not allowed to pay her last respects to her parents by their relatives.
It was earlier reported that family members said the suspect had broken into the deceased’s house to steal money from them before.
A relative who declined to be identified said the decision was made to avoid confrontation within the family which could have led to an ugly scene if she were to be present at the funeral.
