Animangaki 2018 in Its 10th Year

Expected to be the biggest one yet in its decade-long history.

Come this weekend (Aug 18-19), Animangaki 2018 is happening at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre with animation, comics and games for enthusiasts.

Highlights of the activities include Cosplay Competition where fans are all decked out in tailored costumes and role-play as their favourite character and AniManGaki Idol where contestants show off their singing prowess.

For games fun there is Omatsuri, akin to a mini fun fair with game booths, The Trading Card Game of Thrones which offers four tournaments and the Video Game Arena where participants compete live in featured tourneys.

There is much to see with the Lawak Kampus exhibition by local cartoonist Keith and a large collection of figurines or action figures at the Collectibles Display Hall.

With more than 60 booths offering a vast variety of merchandise, it will be hard not to shop.

Catch a performance from a line-up comprising Tokimeki JUMP from Singapore, Hayashiforest, Harmonia ACG, Nandemo ii, Mystical Mirage, The Crestfall Band and 02 Pro.

Foreign special guests for the literally animated weekend are Tokyo-based Australian singer Donna Bruke featuring Ganime Jazz, Russian cosplayer Serg Loki Mirage who is notable for his portrait of Thranduil from the Lord of the Ring Universe and Loki from Marvel’s Thor, and Japanese manga artist Moriyama Daisuke.

On the local front, special guests include cosplayers Chinnie and Yugana Senshi Uon, cartoonist Kendrick Ng aka Kendylife and illustrator Rachel.
