15 Healthcare Workers Contract Covid-19

A total of 15 healthcare workers have contracted the Covid-19 virus as of today, said Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

In a Facebook post today, he said 12 are from the public healthcare sector while three others are from the private sector.

“As of today, 12 Health Ministry healthcare workers and three from the private healthcare sector have been infected by the Covid-19 virus. One of 12 ministry staff is currently in ICU (intensive care unit) on ventilatory support,” he said.

“This virus knows no boundaries, regardless of your race, religion or wealth status, even more so if you are a healthcare worker at the frontline of this war.”

Dr Noor Hisham urged the public to help medical workers on the frontlines by staying at home.

“Our simple message to the public today: please help us to help you. Stay at home.”

So far, Malaysia has recorded 900 Covid-19 cases with two fatalities.

Worldwide, there have been 242,300 infections with a death toll of 9,857.

Putrajaya has imposed a two-week movement control order to keep people indoors and halt the spread of the virus. – TMI
