Dr M assured Guan Eng he was in good health.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng was all smiles after meeting Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the latter’s office in Putrajaya this afternoon.

In a Twitter posting, the DAP secretary-general said the premier assured him that he was in good health and wanted to continue working in his office.

“Tun (Mahathir) said, ‘don’t worry’, my blood pressure (reading) is good 120/70,” he added, posting a selfie of the pair.

Lim said he met Mahathir to discuss several current national issues.

Though he did not elaborate, it would be safe to assume that last Saturday’s electoral whipping for Pakatan Harapan was on the agenda as well.

This morning, Mahathir suffered a minor nosebleed during a joint press conference with Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The Prime Minister’s Office later issued a statement stating that the 94-year-old leader was not suffering from major health issues.

The PMO also denied a news report claiming that Mahathir was rushed to the hospital.

“He is on duty as usual. The news which said he was rushed off to seek treatment is untrue,” read the statement.

As Mahathir was fielding questions from reporters, he was wiping his nose several times with a handkerchief.

A media organisation initially reported that Mahathir ended his press conference prematurely and claimed that this was due to a nosebleed.

According to an aide, Mahathir, in fact, inspected a biodiesel car after talking to the press.

“He is okay because after the PC (press conference), Tun went to inspect a biodiesel car.

“So, it is wrong (for the media) to say that he was rushed for medical attention,” the aide said.

The launching of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board International Palm Oil Congress and Exhibition this morning was Mahathir’s first public appearance since the Tanjung Piai by-election in Johor.
