Parti Amanah Negara’s (Amanah) youth wing has urged the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to strip PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang of his Tan Sri title.
Speaking after handing over a memorandum to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Amanah youth chief Abbas Salimmi Adzmi said that Abdul Hadi has shown a blatant disregard for the King’s decree.
Speaking to media outside Istana Negara on Wednesday (March 8), he said that the King’s degree was to help the government and work towards economic recovery.
“The King had decreed this on many occasions including when the government was formed as well as at the start of the recent Parliament session,” said Abbas Salimmi.
He added that Abdul Hadi should be stripped of his Tan Sri title as a form of punishment for his disrespect toward the King and Council of Rulers.
“To us, Abdul Hadi’s actions were insulting to the King,” he said, adding that as a senior politician Abdul Hadi should work together to build and recover the country for the people and not be power-crazy by trying to topple the government.
He said what was even more insulting to the King was Abdul Hadi’s statement that no one could stop a change of government.
“This is unacceptable as the King has stated multiple times to all politicians to focus on developing the country. He is not worthy to hold these titles,” he said.
Also with him was Amanah Federal Territories youth chief Asma Alif Abdul Adam and Amanah Youth mobilisation director Ramadhan Lotfi. – The Star
