Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today denied the narrative that DAP is the cause of problems among the Malays.

Anwar, who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman and PKR president, stressed that the unity government, which also comprised of DAP, along with PKR, Amanah, Umno, GPS and GRS has no problem working together.

“The problem with the Malays is not because of the Chinese or DAP (for being part of the government). Don’t lie.

“We have Anthony Loke (who is from DAP and is the transport minister) in the unity government cabinet.

“He has no problem with allocations for Islam, to settle Felda’s debt and to help the poor paddy farmers.

“The problem is Malay leaders who are greedy,” he said.

On the narrative that DAP wanted to take over the government, as claimed by certain quarters, Anwar said it was unfounded.

“The Chinese, if they ever wanted to take over (of the government) it is because you’re stupid and corrupt (in BM: Cina nak ambil alih? sebab kamu ni bodoh dan korup).

“If the Malay leaders are clean and can work well with the Chinese, it should not be an issue,” he said in his speech at “Ramah Mesra Bersama Rakyat- Jelajah Madani” held at Dewan Putra, Kampung Sawah in Banting.

Present were unity government candidates for the upcoming state polls namely Sijangkang’s Mohd Al-Hafizi Abu Bakar from Barisan Nasional; Banting’s V Papparaidu (PH) and Morib’s Hasnul Baharuddin (PH).

In his speech, Anwar also said that for the past eight months since the unity government was formed, no case was reported involving him, the deputy prime ministers and ministers.

“None of the unity government ministers were found stealing the peoples’ money, land or logging.

“This is a history and I want to thank the people, especially Selangor, for rallying behind the leadership of the unity government.

“Unlike PN (Perikatan Nasional) who talks about being clean, yet there are more court clusters among them than Umno.” – NST
