Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday suggested that the state elections in six states could take place in August.
Anwar, who is Pakatan Harapan chairman, said it was likely that the state polls could take place that month.
“I am asking our friends for their support in this state as the election will take place here in August. There will be an election by August at the latest.”
He said this at a meet-and-greet session with the Indian community in Nilai.
He called on voters, particularly those in the state, to continue to give their mandate to PH and the unity government to govern the state
“In Negri Sembilan, we have a multitude of races. There are Malays, Indians and Chinese. If someone were to come to the state thinking of campaigning only for Indians, or Malays, they would be mistaken.

“We have to preserve this country for all races. (DAP secretary-general) Anthony Loke had said there are those who are waiting for the chance (to take over the state government). I say ‘let them wait’.
“If we want to save this state, care for it and all its people, then you (the voters) must look after PH and the unity government.”
He said Negri Sembilan should remain under the unity government so that more aid, benefit and development could be channelled to the people.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun had said the state government would be dissolved on Friday to pave the way for the state election.
Selangor and Kelantan have dissolved their state assemblies on Thursday and Friday.
Penang and Kedah were expected to follow suit on Wednesday.
As for Terengganu, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar was expected to seek an audience with Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin next week on the dissolution of its state assembly.
