A woman’s desire to look beautiful for her marriage took a tragic turn when she died while undergoing treatment for a fat suction process.
The incident took place at a beauty centre in a shopping mall in Cheras on Sunday.
It was learnt that the 23-year-old victim undertook the fat suction procedure in preparation for her marriage with her South African beau, next year.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said the victim was said to have visited the beauty centre at about 2.30pm to undertake the process.
“Preliminary investigations found that the beauty centre is legally registered, but did not possess the expertise to conduct the procedure.

“However, the beauty centre owned by a woman and her daughter undertook the fat suction procedure after the victim allegedly beseeched them to conduct it,” he said in a press conference today.
Saiful Azly said, when the victim received an injection in her hand, she began to have difficulty in breathing, adding that her face and body then began to turn pale before she lost consciousness.
“The beauty centre then called an ambulance and the victim was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late, and she was pronounced dead.
“We have detained the duo, aged 49 and 23 respectively, to assist in the investigation,” he said.
Saiful Azly said police were waiting for the outcome of the chemical test from the post-mortem examination conducted on the victim’s remains to find out the actual cause of death.
“Both suspects have been remanded for three days from today until Oct 21 for further investigation. Investigations are being carried out under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code for causing death without intent,” he said. – NST
