The co-author of the ‘Billion Dollar Whale: The Man Who Fooled Wall Street, Hollywood, and the World’ is now calling for a manhunt for fugitive financier Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low.
This comes days after former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was ordered to serve his 12 years’ jail sentence and fined RM210 million for misappropriation of SRC International funds, a subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
The co-author, Bradley Hope tweeted that Jho Low is the final piece of the puzzle after Najib was sent to prison, urging the people to share his possible whereabouts at projectbrazen@protonmail.com.
“Every person can help with this. Let’s get the citizens investigative army going,” he said recently.
Some of his followers replied that the fugitive might be in China.
Following that, he tweeted again about the matter last night.
“The hunt is on. Every person can help, especially people in Hong Kong, Taipei and elsewhere in China. Get the word out,” he said.
It was alleged that at least US$4.5 billion was misappropriated from 1MDB by Jho Low and other high-level officials of the fund and their associates.
Malaysian police tried to locate and bring him back to the country. However, their efforts have been futile till today.
Low is facing a US$3.78 billion or RM16.82 billion lawsuit filed by 1MDB and four of its subsidiaries.
With Malaysian authorities continuing to search for him, he reportedly offered a settlement but the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) said that it was rejected.
A news report quoting sources, had claimed that Jho Low offered RM1.5 billion to the Malaysian government to settle the charges against him. – NST
