Barisan Nasional has withheld the names of its candidates for six parliamentary seats in the 15th national polls.

They are: Tanjong Karang, Jempol, Kuala Pilah, Bandar Tun Razak, Tumpat and Kuala Nerus.

It is understood that the party in still scrutinising the potential candidates after receiving objections from the party grassroots.

The Tanjong Karang seat was held by Tan Sri Noh Omar, who despite being present at the announcement, left without a seat.

It was also widely speculated that former Pas central committee member Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, who won the seat in 2018 under a Pas ticket, would contest in Kuala Nerus as a BN candidate.

It was also widely speculated that Pas member of parliament for Bachok, Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, would switch over to Tumpat on BN’s ticket. – NST
