She claimed that he has been harassing her since September last year.

The intimidation, Tan said, prompted her to lodge a report at the Ampang police station.

It is understood that the sum the businessman is demanding for include expenses and a loan he had given her during their three-year relationship.

Tan said she is now married after she broke off with the businessman in 2016.

“I started to date him in 2013, but only knew that he already married seven months later. But we continued the relationship then.

“I made the decision to sever the relationship in 2016. But my ex-boyfriend persisted and said he wanted to get back with me despite my numerous rejections. We even had a fight in which I sustained injuries on my arm.

“Then last September, he started to pester me, asking me to repay the RM20,000 he spent on me,” she said in a press conference at Wisma MCA recently.

Tan added that Liew also threatened to tarnish her name online and harass her family.

Meanwhile, MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong said he has received 11 cases of asking for post-breakup compensation since 2016. – NST
