Selangor recorded its highest ever number of infections at 1,209 cases today from a total of 1,884 positive Covid-19 cases in total, the Health Ministry revealed today.
Sabah was the second highest with 289 cases while Kuala Lumpur had 166 cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said only two cases were imported while the rest were locally transmitted.
The previous record number was 1,755 cases on Nov 6.
The spike was largely contributed by the Teratai cluster, which involves workers from Top Glove’s factories in Klang, with 1,067 cases.
The national caseload now stands at 56,659.
Active cases are now 13,842, of which 115 patients are being treated in intensive care, with 48 requiring respiratory assistance.
Today’s fresh cases also surpassed the number of recoveries, at 883. Cumulative recoveries now stand at 42,480.
Two deaths were also reported, raising the national toll of fatalities to 337.
Meanwhile, four new clusters have been detected – two in Kuala Lumpur one in Perak and Johor.
