Malaysia today reported 37 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the national toll of coronavirus infections to 6,978, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
Of the 37 new cases, two were imported, while 35 were local transmissions.
The director-general of health also added that 22 out of the 35 locally transmitted cases involved foreigners.
Active cases, on the other hand, stood at 1,218.
Meanwhile, 31 recovered patients were discharged from the hospital as of noon today.
“Eleven cases are being treated at intensive care units where six are in need of ventilators.

“One death was recorded today. This brings cumulative deaths to 114,” he said during the Health Ministry’s daily briefing on Covid-19.
The deceased was a 77-year-old woman who had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart cancer, and had been receiving treatment at a hospital in Pahang.
