Malaysia continued to report a single digit growth in Covid-19 cases with six new infections reported as of noon today.

The director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the national tally of infection to 8,596.

Two of the six cases were imported while four were locally transmitted.

All four locally transmitted cases involved Malaysians, where three of the cases were detected in Selangor.

“Three out of the four local transmissions reported today are detected from three new clusters,” Dr Noor Hisham said.

Two out of the three new clusters are located in the Klang Valley — condominiums in Hulu Langat and Bukit Bintang — while one more is located at a construction site in Kuching, Sarawak.

The Hulu Langat condominium cluster and Bukit Bintang cluster each reported one case, while another case involved a Tahfiz student in Sabak Bernam.

The fourth case was discovered at a construction site in Sarawak.

Forty-five people have recovered from Covid-19 and have been discharged from hospital as of noon today. This brings the total number of recoveries to 8,231.

Active cases, on the other hand, stand at 244, while two patients are being treated in the intensive care unit.

No fatalities were reported, keeping the death toll at 121.
