Unfazed by critics.
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he was willing to work with his former enemies, including Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to stop those who had destroyed the country from returning to power.
“People can say that I am shameless…that I am now forced to lick my own spit.

“This does not affect me. The most important thing is we must stop those who have destroyed the country from returning to power,” he said, adding that a united front put up by a coalition of similar minded people had led to the downfall of Datuk Seri Najib Razak in the 14th General Election (GE14) and there was no reason this could not be repeated in GE15.
The former prime minister said this in a video recording uploaded on his Facebook page.
He said critics had brought up the issue of him seeking out Anwar to the extent that he was willing to drive all the way to the courts to meet the PKR leader before GE14.
“They say I had scrambled to meet Anwar in court to get his support. This is true…there is no place for arrogance and ego when we are fighting for race, religion and this beloved country.
“When I met him then, the first thing on my mind was how to stop Najib from remaining in power. At that time the world knew he was plundering the country and if he was not toppled the betrayal would have continued,” he said.
Dr Mahathir said the same scenario was being replayed in GE15, and there was a need for a united front to prevent Najib from regaining the upper hand.
“I need to work with my former enemies to do this. If need be, I am ready to make the first move,” he said, adding he was unfazed by critics as national agenda was more important to him. – NST
