The Menara City One on Jalan Munshi Abdullah will be placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) beginning March 31 until April 13.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made after the Ministry of Health had confirmed 17 Covid-19 infections at the residential tower.
“The EMCO will involve 3,200 residents at 502 condominium units and business premises in the tower,” he said in a statement today.
This is the third EMCO enforced by the government to contain the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
During the order, all local and visitors in the areas are subject to house curfew, while non-locals are not allowed in with all entry points blocked.
However, differing from the EMCO in Simpang Renggam and Hulu Langat, residents can order for food to delivered to the building’s lobby.
All business activities at the building must halt during the period, except for stores selling essential goods — another difference from previous EMCO.
A medical base will also be set up there. Police officers, Armed Forces, Civil Defence Force, and People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA) personnel will be stationed there to enforce the order.
Built by UDA Holdings in 1997, Menara City One is described as a luxury condominium offering a full range of facilities such as badminton, basketball and tennis courts and a gymnasium.
The 30-storey building is within walking distance of the Bandaraya and Dang Wangi LRT stations.
The building is also within walking distance to the Sogo department store, Pertama Complex and Quill City Mall.
