A national beauty contest winner has reportedly been arrested after allegedly running a police roadblock and punching police personnel who pursued her.

According to Harian Metro, the 28-year-old suspect was believed to be drunk during the incident, and a urine test on her and her companion came back positive for marijuana.

The 3am incident reportedly took place while the duo was driving on the Federal Highway from Kuala Lumpur to Petaling Jaya.

“But as soon as they arrived at the Federal Highway roadblock, the suspect did not stop the vehicle and ran the roadblock.

“Following this, mobile patrol vehicle personnel pursued the suspect before successfully arresting them,” Petaling Jaya OCPD Mohamad Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid was quoted as saying.

The report described the suspect as a “former national beauty queen”.

During the arrest, however, the suspect allegedly punched the arresting officer. The suspect’s companion also reportedly suffered injuries after being beaten by the suspect.

The suspect is being remanded for two days to facilitate investigations under Section 26(2) of the Police Act, Section 353 of the Penal Code, and Section 22(b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988. – Malaysiakini
