After months of being kept away from his family, Furby the dog was returned to his owner yesterday.

M Siva was called to the Selangor Veterinary Services Department (DVS) on Tuesday for a discussion but he was unable to go to the department until yesterday.
“Furby was finally returned to us. Now he also has the necessary documentation. DVS gave me some papers to sign and handed him over. I did not need to pay anything, nothing for his boarding or any fees,” Siva told The Sun.

Temporarily, the friendly dog will once again be placed at the guard post where Siva works as the head security guard while he looks for a landed property to move into.

“He will be here for a week or two until we move into a landed property. It is because of him we are looking for a terrace house,” Siva said.
Furby initially belonged to Siva’s brother-in-law and was living with the family in a flat which caused problems with the authorities.
“This fella is naughty and noisy. He likes to play and will bark when there is someone new, so people complained to the management. This was why I kept him with me at the guard post when the incident happened,” he said.

Furby made headlines when a video of a man hitting him went viral in April last year, causing outrage among animal lovers and netizens.
On Jan 8, the Petaling Jaya magistrate’s court fined Singaporean Yee Kok Chew, 57, RM8,000 in default eight months jail after he pleaded guilty to hitting Furby at a residential area in Puchong at about 8.49pm on April 2, 2017.
The charge came under Section 44(1)(a) of the Animal Act 1953, read together with the Animal Act (Amendment 2013), and is punishable with a fine of not more than RM50,000, or a one-year prison term, or both. – The Sun
