Current Johor police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay has been proposed as the man to take over as head of Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Abdul Hamid Bador said yesterday.

In a press conference at Bukit Aman in Kuala Lumpur, Hamid was asked who would become the new deputy IGP when Acryl Sani Abdullah succeeds him as the nation’s top cop.

He said the three most senior directors who could take the position were integrity and standard compliance department director Zamri Yahya, management department director Ramli Din and narcotics CID director Razarudin Husain.

“These are the three most senior commissioners, so it will be from among them. It’s up to the prime minister.

“I know some people want Ayob to move up, but he will take over CID, if I’m not mistaken. That was the proposal from us so he can continue to progress in his efforts to curb crime in this country. He has been exemplary all this while. Everyone is rooting for him. People like him.

“And the way he makes roti canai,” he quipped, drawing laughter from the media.
