A 58-year-old man was found hanged from a ceiling fan in his house in Taman Putra, Ampang.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the victim’s body was discovered by his wife at about 1.45pm on Friday (July 9).

“The victim’s wife had just returned from buying necessities when she discovered the victim in their bedroom. The victim’s daughter was also at home, but she did not know when it happened,” he said on Saturday (July 10).

The couple has three children, only one of whom is staying in the house with them.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim was suffering from depression as his business had closed down during the movement control order, he added.

“According to his family, the man had been depressed and had been taken to the University Malaya Medical Centre for treatment.

“Preliminary investigations indicate it depressed the man because his company had been facing financial difficulties since the start of MCO and had to stop operations.”

“He also received his first vaccination shot on June 14,” he said.

ACP Farouk said the victim’s body had been sent to a nearby hospital for a post-mortem.

“The case is classified as sudden death,” he added.
