Their letters of resignation, effective next month, were tendered on Monday (June 25).
Four high-ranking Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) officials, including its chairman, have resigned, says Gobind Singh Deo.
The Communications and Multimedia Minister confirmed that the four had tendered their resignation effective July 1.
“Yes, I can confirm that four of them have tendered their resignation,” said Gobind to reporters on the sidelines of his ministry’s Hari Raya open house at Dataran Gemilang in Putrajaya.
Gobind revealed that the four were chairman Tan Sri Dr Halim Shafie, chief operating officer Datuk Dr Mazlan Ismail, and “two others”.
He declined to elaborate why they stepped down and said he would issue a statement on the matter later.
Gobind said a few candidates to replace the four had been identified and were being screened.
“I will go through the list of candidates and we will announce the replacements soon,” he said.
Gobind had in the past expressed his dissatisfaction with MCMC over its inefficiency in dealing with several cases of data breaches. – The Star
