His wife pled with him to run for the presidency for one more term.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin decided to take another stab at being Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president again barely a day after his shock announcement not to defend his position at the party’s leadership election due next year.
The Pagoh MP said he changed his mind after talking things through with his wife Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman who pled with him to run for the presidency for one more term.
He said this in his closing speech at Bersatu’s 6th AGM held on Saturday (Nov 25) at IDCC.
“My wife texted me “Stay another term. They need you”. I replied, “I know, so?” and she said, “Carry on”.

“I then agreed to stay on for the last term, to which she replied, ‘This is for the nation. Abah must stay on,” said Muhyiddin.
This was greeted with happy shouts and screams from the thousands of Bersatu delegates present.
The announcement by Muhyiddin on Friday (Nov 24) not to defend his post at the next party polls hovered over the AGM, which drew to a close on Saturday.
