Najib Razak has once again been admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for an ulcer problem, Utusan Malaysia reported, quoting a source.

According to the source, the former prime minister received treatment according to conditions in the Prisons Act 2000.

“In accordance with section 37 of the Prisons Act, the Prisons Department is responsible for ensuring that a prisoner’s health is constantly monitored and taken care of, including the provision of treatment facilities and medicines as recommended by government medical officers,” the source told the Malay-language daily.

When asked how long Najib will be treated in the ward, the source said, it depends on recommendations by the medical officer.

In September, the Prisons Department confirmed that Najib had been admitted to Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital (CRH) for treatment.

The department said Najib was referred to the hospital following his HKL admission on September 12.

Then health minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Najib was transferred to CRH because he required physiotherapy.

Social media was abuzz last week with allegations that Najib, who is serving a 12-year jail sentence, had been given preferential treatment after he was sent to CRH. – TMI
