Rina Harun is again a hit online – and again for all the wrong reasons.

This time, though, it was not her high-heels or a grand hotel dinner, it was a video of her using a water jet to wash an apparently clean patch of pavement while surrounded by cameramen.

Netizens had flayed the women, family and community development minister earlier for wearing high heels to visit a flood relief centre. She was also criticised for organising a grand dinner at a hotel to raise funds for flood victims.

Hussamuddin Yaacub, founder of anti-graft movement Rasuah Busters, described the video of the cleaning effort as “an arranged PR stunt”.

“Apparently, she is surrounded by a team of less-than-savvy advisers,” he jabbed.

Another user, Pankaj Kumar, pointed to Rina’s shoes as proof that no real cleaning was done.

“The funny thing is, the place she is cleaning is not even dirty. Look at her shoes, as squeaky (clean) as a brand-new pair.”

Both Omar Faayiz and Tashny Sukumaran joked that the clip reminded them of their school days.

“Rina Harun being like us during high school, messing around but doing ‘gotong royong’ when our teachers took photos,” said Omar.

“I just know from watching this that Rina Harun is the kind of person you pray the teacher doesn’t put you in a group with for class projects,” joked Tashny. – FMT
