PN drops Che Abdullah, Nik Abduh as candidates

Kelantan PN announced that eight incumbent MPs will be defending their seats.

Tumpat incumbent MP Che Abdullah Md Nawi will not be defending his seat.

Instead, Kelantan Perikatan Nasional has named Demit assemblyperson Mumtaz Md Nawi as its Tumpat candidate for the 15th general election.

The announcement was made by Kelantan PN chairperson Ahmad Yakob at an event in Kota Bharu last night.

The Bachok incumbent Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz also suffered the same fate, being replaced by Mohd Syahrir Che Sulaiman who will be making his election debut.

Syahrir is political secretary to PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

Other electoral newcomers include senator Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal in Machang and Zahari Kechik in Jeli.

Meanwhile, Kelantan PN also announced that eight incumbent MPs will be defending their seats.

They are Takiyuddin Hasan (Kota Bharu), Ahmad Marzuk Shaary (Pengkalan Chepa), Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (Kubang Kerian), Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (Pasir Mas), Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh (Pasir Putih), Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (Rantau Panjang), Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah), and Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (Kuala Krai)

Kelantan PN will also be fielding a newcomer from Bersatu in Ketereh, the former Malaysian Armed Forces officer Khlir Mohd Nor.

Prior to this, local media had reported rumours that Che Abdullah and Nik Abduh will not be named as candidates to defend the seats they had won during the last election. – Malaysiakini
