Perikatan Nasional assemblypersons in Pahang have expressed their support for Crown Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah over his call for Muhyiddin Yassin to be investigated.

State opposition leader Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man also declared their undivided loyalty to Tengku Hassanal and his father Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

“We place our complete trust in the police to exercise their duties.

“All quarters should refrain from polemics and abide by His Highness’ decree,” the PAS deputy president said in a brief statement on Facebook this afternoon.

Tengku Hassanal had called for a probe concerning the PN chairperson’s speech over the appointment of the prime minister following the 15th general election.

“I express my anger and aggravation at the actions of Muhyiddin, who deliberately and cynically belittled and disputed the duties of Sultan Abdullah,” the crown prince had said.

Tengku Hassanal also described the speech as “dangerous” because it incited the people to lose faith in the royal institution and divided them.

Following this, the crown prince’s private secretary filed a police report against the former prime minister.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin defended his speech during the campaign for the recent Nenggiri by-election in Kelantan.

The PN chairperson also insisted that he did not mean to demean the role of Sultan Abdullah, who served as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong during GE15 which resulted in a political deadlock.

“I believe my statement did not violate any laws of the country. I will fully cooperate with the police to clarify the facts surrounding my remarks,” the Bersatu president said.

Earlier today, Bersatu Youth lodged a police report against PKR mouthpiece Suara Keadilan for allegedly doctoring clips of Muhyiddin’s speech. – Malaysiakini
