Jelutong MP RSN Rayer has dismissed a claim that video clips of former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s speech, which purportedly touched on the royalty, were doctored.
The DAP lawmaker ridiculed Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal’s claim over the speech during the Nenggiri by-election campaign in Felda Perasu, Kelantan.
“Wan Fayhsal should be a man, stop blaming others, and tell Muhyiddin to also be a man and face criminal charges in court if he claims his speech was factually true.
“Muhyiddin can then defend himself in court if his speech was factually true when he is eventually charged,” Rayer said on Facebook.
He was responding to Wan Fayhsal’s remarks made after a police report was lodged against PKR mouthpiece Suara Keadilan this morning.
The report accused the portal of publishing doctored video clips with malicious intent to tarnish Muhyiddin’s reputation as the Perikatan Nasional chairperson.
The report was lodged by PN Youth election director Akmal Zahin Zainal Zahir at the Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur.
“The police should investigate Bersatu Youth for lodging a false report,” Rayer added.
Muhyiddin’s speech had angered Pahang Crown Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah.
In a statement yesterday, Tengku Hassanal said the Pagoh MP “deliberately and cynically belittled and disputed” the duties of former Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Pahang ruler Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.
During his speech, Muhyiddin claimed he had the support of 115 MPs to form the federal government after the 15th general election but was thwarted by Sultan Abdullah.
Police have received 29 reports from various parties concerning the issue and Muhyiddin’s statement will be recorded tomorrow. – Malaysiakini
