Police hot on trail of robbers.
At 8.30pm on Dec 31, a group of 10 men robbed the Poh Kong outlet at Leisure Mall in Taman Segar, Cheras, where five employees, including a security guard, were working.
The robbers escaped with jewellery worth RM1.5 million in just three minutes.
Armed with sledgehammers, the men were wearing full-face helmets and gloves.
“Initial investigation revealed that five of the men had rushed into the premises and smashed the glass display cabinets while the other five were waiting outside (the mall) on several Yamaha 125Z motorcycles.
“The suspects, all of whom are in their 20s, only took about three minutes to escape with the jewellery,” Cheras district deputy police chief Supt Ismadi Borhan said.
Ismadi added that police are reviewing the recordings of closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) installed at the premises as part of investigations.
