Sultan Mizan of Terengganu chaired meeting to elect new Agong.
Updated: Citing sources, Malaysiakini reported that the Sultan of Pahang has been elected as the new Agong, with Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah continuing serving as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The special meeting of the Conference of Rulers at Istana Negara to elect the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Timbalan (Deputy) Yang di-Pertuan Agong ended at 12.45pm.
Chaired by the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, the meeting had started at 11.15am.

The Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, Datuk Seri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, is expected to issue an official statement on the election this evening, Bernama reported.
Eight of the nine Malay Rulers were present at the meeting.
The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, who resigned as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 6, did not attend the meeting.

Currently, the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, who is the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong, is performing the duties of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
