“These people are not only risking themselves but also their family members.

“Police will have to come, and they will have to take you to the hospital if you refuse to abide by the order,” he said.

He assured them that they will not be arrested and only checked for Covid-19.

“Do not be afraid as we are not focused on making arrests or their documentation. We are only focused on tracing those who had been to the event.

“All we want to know is if you are carrying the virus or not. The worse scenario is that you will be quarantined.

“We don’t want to arrest them, but to take care of them. Do not be scared.

“The same goes for non-Malaysians, from Rohingya or anywhere else. They may have been hidden because they have no (travel) documents. I have spoken to the IGP (Inspector-General of Police) that even if they don’t have the documents, they need to come out and not be afraid.

“We don’t focus on travel documents, but we focus on whether they are positive for Covid-19 or not. The most extreme actions taken are quarantine. I hope the tabligh from Rohingya or anyone else from the illegal immigrants could come forward,” he told reporters in a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Malaysia has now recorded nine Covid-19 deaths, out of 1,183 infections.

Majority of the deaths are from the tabligh cluster.
