Former PKR vice-president Tian Chua has remained coy over the possibility of him standing as an independent candidate in the Batu parliamentary constituency for the 15th General Election (GE15).
Tian Chua, who held the Batu seat for two terms, declined to confirm or deny the matter when asked.
“I prefer not to talk about my nomination this early,” he said when pressed by moderators of the ‘Malaysia di Persimpangan’ live talk show, organised by Malaysia 360 today.
The poster for the event had listed Tian Chua as a ‘calon’ (candidate) for Batu.
Tian Chua, widely expected to make a return in GE15, was surprisingly omitted from Pakatan Harapan’s GE15 candidates list, and had publicly expressed his disappointment.
He was barred from defending the Batu seat in the 2018 polls by the Election Commission over his previous conviction for insulting a police officer.
He had then lent his backing for P Prabakaran, who contested as an independent candidate and won before joining PKR.
