Police hunting for Bangladeshi husband of woman whose body was cut into six parts.
The body of a woman which was cut into six parts and found in two suitcases near the Ipoh Road Bridge across the Gombak River on July 5 was that of a Bangladesh national.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the 29-year-old victim also had a husband known as Md Shahzada Saju, 37.
He said police was tracking down her husband who was also a Bangladesh national to help in the investigations of the case.
“Police are tracking down a witness, the victim’s husband, to help in the investigations, members of the public with information are asked to come forward,” he said in a press conference.
He said police believed the man who was previously working in a food outlet here was now in Johor.
“The victim’s passport is also believed to be with the husband,” he said.
“We have visited their rented room and the former employer but no one knows about his whereabouts,” he added.
It was learnt that the man and the victim had been renting a room on the fourth floor of a shophouse in Jalan Segambut. They were also known to have regular arguments and fights while they lived there.
According to the New Straits Times, a source close to the investigation team said checks showed the man and the victim had been married in Bangladesh and had children in their hometown.
“The victim’s immigration status shows that she’s in the midst of being rehired, whereas the husband’s employment status is still unknown, as he stopped working at a restaurant a couple of months ago.
“We believe he’s not fled the country and most likely is in a different state“, he said.
He said the motive, police believe, could be related to jealousy.

On July 5, a homeless woman who lived near the location where the body was found lodged a report at the Putra Chow Kit Community Police Station about the suitcases.
Police later found body parts wrapped in two plastic bags and a bedsheet in the Power Polo and USA Polo suitcases which were found about 20.6 metres apart.
Police also found a locket with the Romanised word ‘Allah’ and a necklace on the woman’s body.
Meanwhile, the Bangla Tribune reported that the victim was Sajeda E Bulbul and the Malaysian police had identified her with the help of Bangladeshi expatriates living here.
According to the newspaper, the police – citing the post-mortem report – said the victim had died from a slash to the throat believed to be by a sharp and heavy weapon.
She was believed to have died between 24 to 60 hours before the post-mortem was conducted.
Reportedly, police have also obtained fingerprints from a layer of skin from the victim’s palm and fingers for identification purposes.
Family members, however, allegedly accused the victim’s husband Shahajada Saju for the murder saying he tried to dump the body into the river after killing his wife.
Citing sources, the Bangla Tribune said Sajeda married Saju on Apr 24, 2004.
On Dec 3, 2016, Saju took his wife to Malaysia for higher studies.
It was reported that the victim’s sister Upama Farhan told the Bangla Tribune: “Saju and his family tortured Sajeda since her marriage.”
“My sister has a seven-year-old daughter but we are not getting any information on her whereabouts.
“We want justice,” Upama was quoted as saying.
She added that the family is seeking the government’s assistance to bring back the body and to bring the little girl home.
It was said that Saju’s family members in Patuakhali have gone into hiding.
