Youth group Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat wants the people to participate in an upcoming protest as a show of dissent against the ruling Perikatan Nasional government.
In a statement, it said the physical protest, known as “Keluar Dan #Lawan” (Come Out and Fight), is to be held on July 31 to symbolise the citizens’ disapproval of the PN administration.
“We invite everyone to take to the streets at a time and place that will be announced in the near future,” it said.
The secretariat, which is behind the black flag protest, said this was because the government was incapable of navigating the country out of the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on the economy, livelihoods, and the people’s health.
“It’s time for the people to have leaders who are self-aware, responsible, and humble enough to understand the people,” it said.
The group had earlier organised the black flag protest at Dataran Merdeka last weekend to denounce the government’s mishandling of the crisis.
Among its demands are the resignation of the prime minister, the full opening of Parliament and an automatic loan moratorium for all Malaysians.
Police have fined three participants of the protest RM2,000 each for taking part in an anti-government protest. – TMI
