In a scathing indictment, Rafidah Aziz described former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak’s legacy as “rubbish” as well as “a shame and disgrace”.

Speaking to business radio station BFM, she said Najib was not serious in governing the nation and instead opted to do so with slogans such as 1Malaysia.

“Any more slogans and I want to vomit… I am tired of reading the pamphlets, I don’t know how many millions he spent on this rubbish…1Malaysia here, 1Malaysia there.

“Now, 1Malaysia ‘sudah habis’ (finished),” she added.

Known as the “Iron Lady”, Rafidah said Najib was a disappointment to those who backed him in the past under the impression that he was energetic and forward thinking.

However, she claimed that he turned out to be nothing more than a leader tainted by numerous scandals which exposed his greed.

As for Rosmah Mansor, the former minister said she had no direct knowledge if Najib’s wife influenced her husband’s administration.

Asked if Najib had tarnished his family’s name, Rafidah said it would be unfair to compare Najib to his father and second prime minister Abdul Razak Hussein whom she worked within the Umno supreme council.

“His father left a legacy that we should all be proud of because he started the development process right after Tunku Abdul Rahman.

“His son, by the time he took over, made a mess of it. So, we should put it separately,” she added.

Rafidah was among the former Umno leaders who had campaigned for Pakatan Harapan in the run-up to the May 9 general election.
