PKR president Anwar Ibrahim is Covid-19 positive based on a test carried out at Parliament today.
His confidential secretary Shukri Saad confirmed that the opposition leader and Port Dickson MP tested positive in a PCR test conducted when he attended the Dewan Rakyat sitting.
“Anwar will go into quarantine for seven days, according to protocols set by the Ministry of Health,” Shukri said in a statement.
Besides Anwar, who is 74, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, 81, is also Covid-19 positive.
His political secretary Syahredzan Johan confirmed this earlier today and that Lim had begun quarantine.
Lim had been at the DAP national congress yesterday where he announced his retirement from electoral politics and was seen hugging many party members.
Anwar had also attended the opening of the congress.
Meanwhile, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang also has Covid-19, confirmed by his son Khalil Abdul Hadi yesterday.
He said Hadi, 74, is experiencing mild symptoms and is in quarantine. – TMI
