Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has reminded the party that its main enemy in the 15th general election (GE15) is Barisan Nasional (BN).
Speaking at Bersatu’s sixth anniversary celebration, he said PN need not be afraid about facing off against BN.
“When the time comes for GE15, PN will be supported by Bersatu, PAS, Gerakan, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) and the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).”
Meanwhile, when asked about the differing opinion PAS had about working with BN, Muhyiddin said such differences were “allowed” before GE15.
Earlier this month, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said talks were held with certain Umno leaders to persuade the party’s leadership to ensure straight fights with Pakatan Harapan in GE15.
“It’s alright as PAS is giving its views before the general election. For now, parties have a bit of freedom to do as they wish,” said Muhyiddin.

Muhyiddin added that he would seek clarification from PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang soon over a meeting Hadi reportedly had with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi earlier this week.
Utusan Malaysia reported yesterday of a meeting between Zahid and Hadi, fuelling speculation that Muafakat Nasional (MN) — the pact between the two parties — would be revived ahead of GE15.
Separately, Bersatu vice-president Ahmad Faizal Azumu dismissed a challenge by Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki to withdraw support for the government.
“We won’t listen to him,” Faizal said when asked about the challenge.
On Tuesday, Asyraf challenged Muhyiddin to call on his party’s MPs to withdraw support for Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
This came after the PN chairman said he believed the government had failed to manage the economy and there was a need for GE15 to be held so the people could elect a capable government. – FMT
