Datuk Seri Najib Razak has denied that he backed Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister on the condition his court cases were dropped.
“Anwar’s statement is totally untrue, as I did not ask anyone’s help to drop my cases,” said Najib on his Facebook page Friday (July 1).
He questioned Anwar’s claim of having the support of 120 MPs and why wasn’t he (Anwar) appointed prime minister if indeed he had the numbers.
“Why didn’t he prove his support in Parliament by thwarting the 2021 Budget vote during the time,” asked Najib.
Anwar claimed on Thursday (June 30) he rejected a statutory declaration signed by Najib backing him after he was asked to give an assurance that the former prime minister’s cases will be dropped. – The Star
