Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak was admitted to the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital on Tuesday after contracting Covid-19.
His aide Muhammad Mukhlis Maghribi said in a statement that Najib was taken to the hospital after experiencing a fever.
Mukhlis said Najib was in stable condition and undergoing quarantine.
His family has expressed gratitude to the prison and hospital staff for their prompt response in ensuring Najib received treatment, Mukhlis added.
Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa confirmed with reporters that Najib was in hospital.
However, she declined to reveal more details.
“What happened, what treatment, and what illness is very confidential.
“I cannot disclose it here. That’s all I can say,” she said when asked about the matter during a press conference in Parliament today.
Najib is reported to have tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this week.
