Police are investigating a death threat allegedly made to a key witness in T Nhaveen’s murder trial and an activist outside a High Court in George Town last week.
Northeast district police chief Soffian Santong told FMT that two police reports are being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
On Sept 14, witness T Previin, 23, claimed that one of the five people accused of Nhaveen’s murder had uttered the death threat along the corridor of the High Court at the end of that day’s hearing.
Previin alleged that the accused had uttered, “After I’m out of jail, I will find you and kill you,” in Tamil.
Arun Dorasamy, an activist and also a potential prosecution witness who has yet to take the stand, also lodged a police report alleging the same.

Both Previin and Arun claimed that the accused’s threat was heard by many others in the corridor.
The trial was stood down yesterday and will resume on Dec 12.
The five charged with Nhaveen’s murder are S Gopinaath, 30, J Ragesuthan, 22, S Gokulan, 22, and two others who were juveniles when the alleged offence took place.
They are accused of committing the offence at the Jalan Bunga Raya park between 11pm and midnight on June 9, 2017.
They are also charged with committing grievous assault on Previin in Bukit Gelugor that same night. – FMT
