Anwar Ibrahim’s decision to helm the Finance Ministry was brought about by the extraordinary political climate in the country that made it necessary for the prime minister to take up the position, Rafizi Ramli said.

“As this is an unusual situation, the decision is the right one for now,” Rafizi said at his first media conference as economic affairs minister.
“We are facing a challenging economy. We need a prime minister who also holds the finance portfolio.
