Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Mansor today warned that action could be taken against party veterans Rafidah Aziz, Rais Yatim and Daim Zainuddin for their open criticism of Barisan Nasional (BN).

He added that the trio could be sacked from the party.

“Sometimes she says something, then denies saying it,” he said, referring to Rafidah.

“As secretary-general, I can’t tolerate this nonsense,” he said at an event in Putrajaya.

Rafidah had, in a Facebook post on Tuesday, called on Malaysians to reject BN and pass the mandate to administer the country to Pakatan Harapan (PH).

“We are a very fair party, we will look and study and should there be a need to take action, we will,” said Tengku Adnan who is the federal territories minister.

He added that Rafidah was still a member of Umno. “She must have some discipline as we have our constitution and ethics. So please follow them.

“Sometimes they can say they go there (opposition events) as a friend and not as politicians. This is the problem we are facing.”

He said any action to be taken against the trio would be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Daim, who is a former finance minister, openly endorsed PH chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is contesting in Langkawi, and several other PH candidates, saying it was to ensure a better future for the next generation.

Former minister Rais meanwhile recently criticised the Election Commission’s (EC) act of removing Mahathir’s image from opposition billboards.

He also asked why the EC had allowed the picture of China’s leader Xi Jinping to be featured on the billboard of MCA president Liow Tiong Lai. – FMT
