The aborted meeting a last-ditch effort to press the Prime Minister regarding the memorandum of agreement (MoA) between Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and Ismail Sabri.
The meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was cancelled at the last minute, says Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan.
Wan Saiful said the meeting was supposed to take place at 2.30pm on Thursday (Aug 4) but was cancelled.
“Bersatu wants the Prime Minister to respect Perikatan Nasional the way he respects Pakatan Harapan.
“I’m worried that he (Ismail Sabri) is going back to the ways of the old Umno,” Wan Saiful said.
Frustration within the Perikatan leadership has reached boiling point after a meeting with Ismail scheduled to take place at 2.30pm on Thursday (4 Aug) was suddenly cancelled the night before by the Prime Minister’s Office.
A well-placed source from Bersatu said the aborted meeting would have been a last-ditch effort to press the Prime Minister regarding the memorandum of agreement (MoA) between Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Ismail Sabri shortly before the handover of the premiership in August last year.
The decision to send a delegation of top leaders to see the Prime Minister was made at a Perikatan meeting last week.
The delegation comprised Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali from Bersatu and Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar from PAS. – The Star
