A lawyer representing wanted Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos travelled to Indonesia this morning following news of his arrest there yesterday.

Datuk Mohd Imran Tamrin said he was departing today for Jakarta, where he will arrange to meet his client who is in the custody of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police pursuant to Malaysia’s request.

“I will provide updates on the developments later.”

It is learnt that Jamal’s arrest came after almost a month-long surveillance and monitoring by Indonesian police, who finally moved in on him in Jakarta.

He was said to have been picked up from a hair salon in the capital while getting a haircut.

Meanwhile, authorities will arrange for the swift return of Jamal, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

However, Fuzi said he could not provide a specific date when he will be sent back to Malaysia by Indonesian police.

“We will bring him back to face justice here through proper channels subjected to the cooperation of the Indonesian authorities,” he said today.
