From Klang to Penang, the fraud probe continues.
- Released on RM5,000 bail, rearrested
- Expected to arrive in Penang today
- Banquet tonight scheduled to proceed
Johnson Lee and his two aides were released on RM5,000 police bail each but freedom was short-lived as they were rearrested shortly after and handed over to Penang police for investigations on their side.
The suspects, who were held at the Bandar Baru Klang police station, emerged at about 1:00 pm and were taken to the Kapar Indah police station to have their statements recorded. At about 4:40 pm, they were brought back to the Bandar Baru Klang station.
Handcuffed and dressed in a grey T-shirt and shorts, Lee kept his head down as he was led past the media into the station.
The Star reported that lawyer Mohd Shukri Ahmad Mansor said he was informed that his clients would be taken to Penang. The suspects are expected to arrive in Penang today.
Today is also the day of the JJPTR vegetarian banquet for 1,000 people at Berjaya Times Square Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The hotel has been deluged with enquiries on whether the event will take place. According to The Star, the hotel confirmed that the dinner is scheduled to be held in its Manhattan Hall at 7:00 pm.
Sin Chew Daily reported that 100 tables had been booked and paid for, but the reservation was not made under Lee’s name.
It would be interesting to see how the much-anticipated dinner – if it proceeds – turns out.
