The atmosphere in the High Court was tense as a defence counsel and a witness got into a heated argument in the murder trial involving Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Nazrin Hassan.
The drama unfolded when counsel S Suresh, representing one of the two juvenile accused, alleged that the witness in question had fabricated his statement.
He claimed that the witness, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department investigation officer Abdul Halim Zulkefeli’s statement contravened with the evidence found at the location of the incident.

Suresh when cross-examining the 15th prosecution witness raised the poser over the finding of a firecracker in a toilet bowl, inside the premises where the incident took place.
Suresh: The statement that a firecracker was found inside a toilet bowl is untrue.
Halim: I disagree.
Suresh: You said the evidence was found near the area. I put to you that you have fabricated this.
Halim: I disagree.
Halim said he collected the firecracker and placed it inside a plastic bag.
However, Suresh said Halim never mentioned the firecracker in his report, which the latter disagreed.
Suresh: The firecracker was not a main topic during investigation at the site?
Halim: Yes, but we took it for sampling.
Meanwhile, Halim said he was not aware of the statutory declaration filed by Nazrin’s wife Samirah Muzaffar’s aunt, Aziah Hashim, who claimed that she saw firemen taking out the sim card of a phone in the residence.
Aziah said she saw a fireman take out a sim card from a Huawei handphone before handing it over to Samirah.
Samirah along with her two teenage sons, aged 17 and 14, and an Indonesian, Eka Wahyu Lestari, believed to be Samirah’s maid (who is still at large), are charged with murdering Nazrin.
They are alleged to have committed the offence at Mutiara Homes, Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, between 11.30pm on June 13, 2018, and 4am the following day.
