Police have denied that they had received information that Irish teenage girl Nora Anne Quoirin was raped by the Orang Asli following social media posts speculating that she was likely raped.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Mohamad Mat Yusop also warned against making baseless speculations prior to the autopsy report, expected to be released tonight.

“The post-mortem report has not been released. Don’t make baseless statements and speculations.

“Police will take action against those who spread rumours and false news,” he told FMT when contacted.

He was asked to comment on an allegation made by a Twitter user, which said that the Irish teen may have been raped by the Orang Asli.

Last night, police confirmed that the body they had found yesterday evening belonged to Nora, who went missing from a resort last Aug 4.

Nora, who reportedly suffered from a learning disability, was in Negeri Sembilan for a holiday with her family.

Following her disappearance, authorities had deployed its largest ever search-and-rescue team, involving 348 members, including the VAT 69 elite police force.

Members of the public, including experienced hikers, were also actively involved in the search and rescue efforts. – FMT
